Getting Ready to Let Go
There are several reasons why letting go is difficult.
Change is hard, there is less risk in the status quo, predictability feels safe, failure is a challenging teacher, and the future is scary and unknown. When we let go, there will likely be moments of confusion, struggle, uncertainty, and a strong desire to rush back to the familiar. This is especially true when we are attempting to let go of a job, relationship, belief system, or habit, even if it was limiting, unhealthy, or toxic. And while those are all legitimate, I believe there is an alternate perspective.
I contend that the act of letting go is less about loss and fear and more about honoring one’s self-awareness, confidence, worthiness, and curiosity. Letting go can be framed as a gateway to endless opportunities, available to each of us. Limitlessness, openness, acceptance, freedom, purpose, authenticity, space to reinvent oneself, and the release of vanity and ego await you on the other side of letting go.
I know that you have the courage to let go! I know that you are getting ready to take that first step, have that first conversation, or pack up that first box. I know that you are long overdue for joy, purpose, respect, control, happiness, and acceptance in your life. Yes, I know that discomfort and pain are probable, and yet, when you embrace and pursue the possible with fidelity, the future is boundless!
